Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a challenging period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Now training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's first trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.
Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at 21 different events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.
But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a final set.
He defended 4 early break points in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
